FILO:
FILO-First

in allowing most recent pallet stays at the front. This type of
configuration is useful when there is a requirement of storing large

- Drive-in Pallet systems- Tunnel structures are used in this configuration, which are placed side by side to store pallets. This will allow the lift trucks to drive down for placing or retrieving the pallets.
- Push-back pallet systems- In this type of configuration pallets are stored on wheeled carts of a rail system, which will be angled towards the front of a rack for getting an advantage of gravity. When a new pallet is placed on a cart by a lift truck, it results in pushing back the existing stack to accommodate a new pallet.
LIFO:
LIFO-Last
In First Out is considered to be the best pallet racking
configuration, as it suitably allows in accessing first pallet placed
in a row. You will get a load and unload facility at opposite ends that
will prove to be useful in preventing expiry of your inventory.
Examples of LIFO pallet racking configuration:
- Drive-through pallet system- In this configuration the lift truck can drive through an empty bay and exit on the other side conveniently. While stacking new pallets the older ones will shift back, which one can drive around and unload the older one first.
- Flow pallet systems- Here the pallets are stored in single width aisles, which will be up to 20 pallets deep. While removing inventory from the rack, it can be noticed the whole stack of pallets shifts toward the unload side making it easy for a first retrieval of a last in inventory
